Dr Bisnu Prasad DASH
Adjunct Professor in Zoology Fakir Mohan University Balasore, India Dr Dash is Adjunct Professor in Zoology at Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, India. He is continuing in the present responsibility after completing his 16 years of teaching, research and administrative experiences at Fakir Mohan University and 18 years of research experience at ICMR-RMRC, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He obtained his Masters Degree in Zoology from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack and M Phil as well as PhD degree in Life Sciences from Sambalpur, University, Burla, Odisha.
During his past and present tenure at the Fakir Mohan University he along with his scholars has identified the breeding and nursing grounds of Indian Horseshoe crabs. Using various biotechnological approaches his group has successfully executed the stock enhancement and sea ranching activity for horseshoe crabs by adopting artificial insemination, captive rearing and releasing them into the sea. Further, Prof. Dash has been taking steps to establish a dedicated Centre for Research and Conservation of Indian Horseshoe Crabs (CRCIHSC) at Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, Odisha. Dr. Dash is an established scholar in the field of Marine and Medical Biotechnology with almost 120 peer-reviewed publications in several reputed International and Nation Journals. He has delivered several talks in National and International conferences and seminars in India and other countries like France, China, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia. He has executed several research projects funded by DST-DBT, UGC, DRDO Government of India and DST, Government of Odisha. He was acted as the Group Leader-Component A (Bioresources) in the Govt. of Odisha-World Bank funded Centre of Excellence functioning at the Fakir Mohan University, Balasore. Besides the academic responsibilities he has also actively involved in extracurricular activities which includes, series of Radio and Television talks, writing and publishing scientific articles in news papers and popular articles in local and national science journals. |
